What is a Grid?

X-ray filter grids improve the quality of a radiograph by trapping the vast majority of scattered radiation. This will provide a cleaner, clearer and more detailed image. Scattered radiation is the biggest contributing factor to poor diagnostic quality or a "bad" xray. The intensity of scattered radiation is dependent on the density of the subject. Using a grid, will significantly cut down on the scatter and also eliminate unnecessary radiation dosages to the patient. The X-ray grid will effectively remove the scatter produced between the beam and the film, producing a more effective subject contrast.
